As a heads up for those who don’t know; Captain America, Steve Rogers is a fictional character, an American superhero developed by the Marvel Comics, his costume contains features from the American flag and most of the time his enemies are Nazis and Neo-nazis.
The second movie of the series, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is produced by the Marvel Studios and it is focused on the missions of a blond, muscular, american super soldier, starred by Chris Evans. Other protagonists were Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff and Anthony Mackie as Falcon and Robert Redford as the villain, Alexander Pierce.
I’ve chosen this particular movie because it has two examples of the term, “Magical Negro”. – A magical negro is the “Magical black character”, who goes around selflessly helping white people.-
Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), the head of the Avengers Assemble, murdered(!) in the beginning of the movie and after his death it turns out that he was a villain and a traitor. But after a while, Cpt. America finds out that Neo-Nazis were behind his death and when Cpt. America starts to question his faith upon America, Nick Fury shows up in a hospital bed (alive), convincing him to get back at his mission and leading him to save America.
The second example in the movie is the character called Sam Wilson starring Anthony Mackie. We first meet him in the opening scene of the movie as a black retired soldier, running in the park and always passed and left behind by Cpt. America. But when Captain America is wanted by the secret service (S.H.I.E.L.D./HYDRA), Sam takes Captain to his house, protects him and gaves wise advices about fighting back. After a while it turns out that he was a super soldier just like Cpt. America and he helps Cpt. America to save the world from Neo- Nazis united under the secret service. At the end of the movie, we also see that Sam joins the Avengers Assemble as Falcon.
